Investigation results | Sibutramine: 3360 mg/kg - ppm Sibutramine was detected in the tea. Sibutramine is an amphetamine derivative that was used until 2010 as an adjunctive treatment for obesity. Commission Decision C(2010)5597 called on the Member States to suspend the placing on the market of medicinal products containing sibutramine due to safety concerns. The (daily) dosage of the medicinal products on the market was 10 or 15 mg sibutramine calculated as sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate. According to chemical analysis, the product contains 3360 ± 672 mg/kg sibutramine. This corresponds to 16.8 ± 3.36 mg/serving (sachet of 5 g). According to the Turkish-language information on the packaging, it is recommended to consume the product twice a day ("Günde iki defa"), resulting in an expected intake of 33.6 ± 6.72 mg/day. |
